This year marks the 45th anniversary of the blockbuster summer sale which has been featured in the New York Times and often referred to as “St. Petersburg’s Largest Pajama Party.” Beginning at 6:43 a.m. and continuing throughout the day, nearly 40 downtown and nearby St. Petersburg merchants and businesses will offer doorbuster sales and special offers. Shoppers are encouraged to wear their pajamas and those who do are often treated to extra discounts or small gifts. As part of the event that sees downtown filled at dawn with yellow flags, bright balloons and eager shoppers, the DBA will be collecting donations for Heart Gallery, Pinellas-Pasco, an organization that matches foster kids with their forever families. Cash donations can be given at all participating merchants and will be matched by The Cathedral of St. Peter. There will be free cake at the main tent, located on the lawn of the Museum of Fine Arts, and several restaurants are offering incredible breakfast specials to hungry shoppers. The event is open to the public, and maps will be available to guide people to participating businesses. Anxious shoppers can follow the Sunrise Sale announcements on Facebook at www.facebook.com/DBAStPete. Special offers will be highlighted leading up to the event.
