The Bikery Story

Taylor Norton liked to run.  He sold running shoes for a living and worked at being competitive in marathons.  An injury put Taylor out of training for an extended period so he looked around for a nice way to stay in shape while going easy on his knees.  At that time the "Fixie" bike craze was going full steam and 66Fixed was a Saint Petersburg shop that specialized in fixed gear bicycles. Taylor knew a few guys riding fixed gear bikes and racing in "Alley Cat" (casual under the radar) races around Florida and hanging out at 66Fixed.  Riding and racing was almost as much fun as hanging out with the other cyclists and working on the bikes.

Since that time Taylor has been active in endurance bike racing, triathlon, duathlon, time trials racing and his current passion cyclocross.  

In 2014 Taylor was checking out bike shops on-line and noticed a pretty awesome shop located in Berlin, Germany called "Steel Vintage" which bought and sold vintage racing bikes as well as running a neat little coffee shop.  Hmmm, bikes and coffee?  Taylor's Dad, Neal was into the craft coffee movement that was just gaining steam in the Tampa Bay area.  Taylor knows bikes & Dad loves coffee.

So the idea for The Bikery was born.  After searching the Tampa Bay area for six months looking for a place to set up shop we learned about an available building at 2222 1st Avenue South.
